The First Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event As you know, we are a volunteer run organization. We literally wouldn't be here if it weren't for the people that generously dedicate their time to serve on the board, serve on a committee, speak at events, and help events run smoothly. To all of you who have given your time to AWIS over the years: thank you!! Each year, we'll choose one volunteer to formally recognize. For the inaugural event, we can't think of anyone more deserving than Melissa McCartney. Melissa has served on the board for multiple years and had an integral role in the genesis of the AWIS DC Mentoring Circles program. She is leaving DC at the end of the year for new opportunities, so let's get together to celebrate all of the things that she has done for our chapter!
