     AWIS DC is excited to host an evening with Laura Odell, Assistant Director for the Institute of Defense Analyses. Her expertise has led her across incredible science and technical fields. Biography

Laura Odell develops progressively complex projects where weapon, business, and network requirements intersect.  She is a “hands- on,” operationally focused leader specializing in presenting feasible solutions that are ultimately rendered in an electronic environment.  She optimizes the trade space balance between risk and performance by linking operational process and controls to an organization’s strategic objectives.

With twenty five years of experience, her core competencies intersect the business and cyber domains. Her primary focus area is on Cyber intrusion and Cyber hostility defensive design to enable platform resiliency.  She is currently working on a variety of disruptive technologies projects, including mobility to the tactical edge for the Office of the Secretary of Defense Chief Information Officer (OSD CIO). She is recognized as a leader in the Federal government industry sector and has been a speaker topics regarding IT enabled data analytics, rapid acquisition procurement and cyber security hostility topics at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Defense Acquisition University, American Engineering Institute, and other industry forums.

Before joining IDA, Ms. Odell was a Partner at KPMG LLP responsible for US Global Department of Defense practice and was the Americas leader for the deployment of the Global Supply Chain Offering (GSCO) in the United States.

Her experience working for the Federal government includes positions as in Deputy Program Manager for the Department of Defense F/A-18 aircraft program for electronic warfare, Congressional Liaison for the Naval Air Test Center, and flight test engineer for Strike aircraft directorate-US Navy conducting at sea carrier suitability operations and a three year global rotation in the Pacific Rim.  She began her career as a design engineer for Honeywell.
