{"id":1130,"date":"2016-12-20T11:14:10","date_gmt":"2016-12-20T16:14:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.awisdc.org\/?p=1130"},"modified":"2017-08-22T22:01:35","modified_gmt":"2017-08-23T02:01:35","slug":"awis-dc-mentoring-circle-program-and-kick-off-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.awisdc.org\/?p=1130","title":{"rendered":"AWIS DC Mentoring Circle Program and Kick-off Event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>\u201c\u2026having a feeling of solidarity would be better than trying all this on my own.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A Mentoring Circle is a group of participants that meets for the purpose of discussing careers and professional development topics.\u00a0 Participants simultaneously act both as mentors and mentees as they exchange experiences, challenges, opportunities, and advice for the purpose of enhancing self-confidence, communication skills, leadership practices, and commitment to one\u2019s career.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>Mentoring Circle size:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Up to 5 participants per Circle with a designated leader<br \/>\n<strong><em>Frequency of meetings:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Every 4-6 weeks throughout 2017<br \/>\n<strong><em>Where:<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Each group sets its own schedule and location for virtual or in-person meetings. Please note that face-to-face meetings are more beneficial for participants and are highly recommended.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Participating in a Mentoring Circle is free for AWIS members.\u00a0To join the DC Chapter please visit:\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.awisdc.org\/\">http:\/\/www.awisdc.org\/\u00a0<\/a>Non-members may participate in a Mentoring Circle for a fee of $50. This fee will allow you to attend all Mentoring Circles-associated events throughout 2017 for free.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>Applications are now closed.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>The 2017 Mentoring Circles Program Kick-off Event:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Mentoring group assignments &amp;\u00a0communications workshop<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nJoin Ann Timmons,<em>\u00a0Communications Artist<\/em>, as she shares her unique approach to speaker training,\u00a0honed\u00a0during her years in the professional theatre.\u00a0Ann will offer\u00a0unique insights for finding your presence, so you can get your message across to anyone, anytime. You\u2019ll walk away with a few practical tools to help you discover your own strong, powerful presence&#8211;and start using it immediately.\u00a0<em>Note:<\/em>\u00a0<em>All participants will receive a follow-up email from Ann and be added to her mailing list to receive a monthly newsletter.
