Finally, she will briefly speak about her involvement with AWIS over the last 30 years and the value she has derived from the organization.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Don\u2019t forget to bring your\u00a0business cards\u00a0along! Join AWIS DC\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.awisdc.org\/?page_id=16\">Here!<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Biography<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Nancy Forbes has worked for over 25 years in the management and analysis of science and technology programs, especially in the military and intelligence community.\u00a0 She currently works for the National Coordination Office for Networking and IT R&amp;D as a strategist and writer. Her experience includes serving as senior analyst for S&amp;T for the Central Intelligence Agency, evaluation of national IT research programs for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and technical oversight for federal R&amp;D projects, including at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). She \u201cmoonlights\u201d as a science writer, having published numerous articles and two books, \u201cImitation of Life: \u00a0How Biology is Inspiring Computing\u201d by MIT Press and most recently, \u201cFaraday, Maxwell and the Electromagnetic Field\u201d for Prometheus Books.\u00a0 She holds a Bachelors and Master\u2019s degrees in physics from Columbia University and equivalent degrees in Spanish literature from the University of Virginia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AWIS DC presents: Hot off the Press: Science writing and publishing beyond the journal article!
